Tech News Microsoft BLOCKS StartisBack & StartAllBack & ExplorerPatcher & 3rd party Addons in 24H2

Microsoft sinks to NEW lows. Seems like everything above 24H2 will no longer be able to install future updates if you have certain 3rd party addons installed. They say its a "security issue".

Here is the video describing the new issues. Another problem for we builders to overcome. Another reason to love Linux lol. Copy and Paste URL to view.

Even server and ltsc versions are becoming hard to tame. I have seen some small companies move to Apple rather than Windows 11, especially as Office is online now. I would have thought there would be some kick back to the ever increasing false rise in computer system requirements, mostly on environmental grounds, (software turn off creating hardware electronic throw away) but the public just put up with it an pay and pay. They're not so pleased to pay when I tell them how much it costs to fix something!

Leave it to MS to try to lock things down further. I wonder what they'll try next.... :giggle:

Ironically I have been playing around with Linux a little more in a VM lately. Lots of fun to be had.

Linux not yet a solution for most people. Running in a VM is a great first step yet running on real can be a different experience. I'd say to start any linux adventure on a spare machine and take your time. Android on pc is an interesting option too.

as if apple isn't contributing to the e-waste problem. sooner or later you'll no longer be able to upgrade to the latest MacOS because apple will dump support for intel cpu based macs in favor of their M based platform

That's true. Forced artificial redundancy is a horrible thing. I bet all of you have boxes of stuff that works fine but no body will use.

Thanks for posting that my brother @Proteus, I truly enjoyed watching it.
All I can say about that is, Microsoft is ridiculous, since you wont use your property
the way they want you to use it and doing things to prevent them spying on you,
they throw a tantrum and ban/block everything for so called "security reasons."

I keep hearing support is ending for Win10 soon, and I really don't care.
Most of their supports/updates whatever seems to benefit them more than me or anyone really.

If they want all that control why don't they give their product away for free, then maybe they can have
some say, until then allow people to do what they want with what they spent their hard earned money on.
I better stop typing now, the more I think about it. the more upset I get .... Yeah their ridiculous and I definitely don't trust them.

My main OS for several years has been Linux, I play 1 windows game on steam that refuses to run on wine or any of the other emulaters. So a small partition with a dualboot, soon to be the excelent Windows X-Lite 'Optimum 10 Pro' v2 by FBConan.

Microsoft can take a hike.
