Hello Victor24: This one worked for me. The other one didn't. Couple of remarks as feedback.
I have a beat-up old PC in the basement. I use it to try out things. I could install Windows 11 on it, as a fresh install. The process was mostly smooth. My only criticism of the install protocol is this. The PC has Internet connection only via WiFi. Some of the recent Windows 10 installers give you the option of connecting to the Internet by either ethernet or WiFi. But this Windows 11 installers looks only for ethernet connection; I had to say No Internet and go for Limited Setup. I'm not sure what "Limited Setup" means. Hopefully, once Windows 11 is on and I've gotten wifi going, updating would be painless.
Everything is slow on that PC (only 2GB RAM
), but Windows 11 felt much slower than Windows 10.
I started update-mode install on my main PC. The program worked and was willing to go ahead. But it gave only two options: 2. Keep personal files, but not settings and programs. 3. Overwrite everything. The first option (Keep Settings and Programs) was grayed out. I didn't want to proceed, because it's quite a task to assemble all the programs and, especially device drivers: for printer, an old scanner, and I also have a fire-wire based digital audio interface. I'll do all that once Windows 11 stablizes.
In the meantime, I can play around with 11 on my basement PC. Thanks for making that possible.
